The fCover is defined as the fraction of ground surface
covered by vegetation.
Its production relies
on the outputs of the current
FP5 / CYCLOPES
project available at
MEDIAS-France.
The validation has been carried using a physical approach which consists in checking the spatio-temporal consistency of at the continental scale and on a full vegetation cycle. The absolute validation has been performed by
Noveltis using
reference maps derived from in-situ measurements acquired on the
VALERI network
sites. A scientific paper has been submitted recently.

MEDIAS-France defines the customization specifications of the fCover to fit
OLF requirements:
atmospherically-corrected and cloud-screened
time-series of fCover over Africa and Boreal Eurasia. Some methodology has
to be developed to fill the no-data pixels.
This customisation has been applied to the version 1 of CYCLOPES FCover products. These customized products are available for download through the link below.
Today, the version 3 of CYCLOPES FCover products is available through the POSTEL web site with associated scientific and technical documentation.
